A lot of the photo opportunities at Monkey World have the problem of shooting through thick glass. Quite often it is smeared from both sides (Apes and Humans). This is in both the indoor and outdoor viewing areas. What techniques do you use to overcome this?

Firstly I try and find a clean spot. Not easy. Get the lens as close to the glass as possible. Use your hand around the end of the lens to cut out as much reflection as possible. A rubber lens hood could possibly do this job. The glass can throw the auto focus off slightly especially at an angle. Try and get as close to square as you can. Take a lot of shots!!!

Does any one know if the infra red AF assist on the Canon speedlite flashes will help focus better through glass especially in low light?
